Introducing The Sophisticated Lodge
Welcome to The Sophisticated Lodge. Our client wanted to use different tones of neutrals (some warm, some cool) to create an organic and masculine aesthetic. This property is surrounded by the most beautiful grounds including woods, extensive landscaping, prolific boulder walls and even waterfalls. We wanted to bring the outdoors "in". By utilizing materials such as ledge rock, leather, pampas grass, greenery, pottery, and neutral earthy fabrics we accomplished that objective.
For the primary bedroom at The Sophisticated Lodge, our team worked to create a design that really gave the space a refresh, but worked around existing furniture. In the case, we were asked to work around a beautiful bedroom set the client had acquired many years ago. The set was solid wood and intricately carved: it was clearly an investment and no surprise our client wanted to hang on to it. When we started though the room looked a little dated and tired, and our client was unsure on how to make his space look updated while keeping the furniture. By creating a feature wall behind the bed, and adding new linens and accessories, we were able to really bring the furnishings into a new era. Now the pieces read unique and special, because of the fresh surroundings we created around them.
In contrast, one of the spaces that underwent the most renovation in our Sophisticated Lodge project, was the primary bathroom. This space presented our team with a unique layout challenge: a narrow T-shaped floor plan. However, we utilized the central entry point to create a real "moment" with a free standing, elegant bathtub. This tub is then flanked on either side with his and her vanities. The sophisticated lines and clean modern white of the tub and white backsplash are juxtaposed with rustic details such as charcoal toned tile floors and leather accessories.
Also in the primary bathroom, the shower is a true show stopper! Shower systems, like this one, are becoming more popular and we certainly see why! It makes any shower feel like one at a luxe, 5 star hotel or spa. Having a custom shower designed precisely to our clients needs is something we enjoy bringing to life. From plumbing fixture systems, to niches and benches, this shower has it all.
Another space in the home, Flourish helped redesign was the great room and adjoining dry bar. Whether you enjoy entertaining or would prefer personal use, having a dry bar near your great room is so handy. It's the ideal spot to make mixed drinks, lay out a spread, or store wine: and all in the midst of your main living space. This existing rustic stone wall and bar area was already in place when we began designing for The Sophisticated Lodge. We added a touch of elegance by accessorizing a sideboard with a mirror, lamp, books, wine, and pampas grass arrangement. Even when an area has a designated purpose, such as a dry bar, we like to add accessories like greenery and books to add warmth and style.
While the normal “Flourish touch” is a more french, European inspired one, this project was enjoyable because of the growth and “stretch” it created for us. We were able to experiment with new materials and palettes, and our eye for elegance gave this rustic home a smattering of sophistication. The end result is stronger for that juxtaposition and definitely a perfect addition to our portfolio.
